Nieuwsbrief Transitie Proefdiervrije Innovatie

Innovative Biomedical Research network: Join us online at April 7th!

Everything is different now that the corona virus is forcing us to close offices and labs and work from home. Some of us are working over hours to help fight the corona crisis, others are looking for new ways to be of use. For those who want and can, we propose to continue ONLINE with the “Innovative Biomedical Research network”.

We invite you to pursue our conversation at April 7th (14.15 and 16.00 hours Amsterdam time) via ZOOM and pick up the threads on innovative animal free research.

Please take the opportunity to invite participants from the TPI conference, who can benefit from this meeting and this meeting can benefit from their presence.

Brett Lidbury on TPI.tv: "Dynamic website with uplifting interviews, highly recommended"

Last November, Professor Brett Lidbury from the Australian National University in Canberra attended the international conference on TPI in the Netherlands. That day he was also in front of the camera of the brand new TPI.tv. How does he look back at the conference and his "media appearance"? "I get positive reactions from colleagues on this video. Everyone is very impressed with this Dutch initiative!"

White Paper Launched

The Alliance for Human Relevant Science recently launched a White Paper ‘Accelerating the Growth of Human Relevant Life Sciences in the United Kingdom’. This whitepaper (and summary document here) champions the development and uptake of innovative human relevant research models, often termed new approach methodologies (NAMs), to improve our ability to understand disease and predict adverse drug reactions (ADRs).

In the whitepaper, the Alliance calls on the Government to support the transition to human relevant science, to deliver safer and more effective medicines. Human relevant NAMs have the potential to improve science, reduce failures in drug development and benefit business.

In the US and the Netherlands it is recognized that government agencies need to take the lead if progress is to occur. Five ministries within the Dutch government are collaborating with funders, scientists and businesses to organise conferences, workshops and funding proposals to accelerate the transition to NAMs.

You can find the link to the whitepaper here and consider joining the Alliance (info here).
